May 2009

  • Sunday, May 24, 2009: 8:00pm to 4:00pm Young Eagles Helicopter escort at the Mount Pocono (MPO) airport.  Breakfast is on Sean and you have a good chance on getting a helicopter orientation flight.  We have three aircraft.   Sean Gornell in the Skyhawk departing from LVIA, Jon Trainor in his Archer departing from Braden Airpark, and Ron Drake in his Cirrus departing from either LVIA or Braden.  We are offering to take the explorers to MPO to act as escorts for Jim Miller in his Jet Ranger Helicopter.  We need a minimum of three but prefer at least six Explorers to serve as escorts for Jim to load him up with about 8 to 10 trips of Young Eagles.  If  you all do a good job and efficient loading he will take you on a Helicopter orientation ride.   I never even been in a helicopter! So do not miss this big opportunity!

We choose the Explorers to act as escorts because Explorers have exposure to aviation and have had some training.  So let Sean know if you are coming and we will work out the seating arrangements and which airport to meet.  Wheels off are at 8am.  Bring hat, sunblock bottled water.
